1871 Census (age 41) staying at Briar Hill, Hardingstone, Northants as 'sister in law' head of house is William Rice (46, farmer of 215 acres) and his wife is Ann (47). They have 7 children and 2 servants. Mary Anne gives occupation as 'brewers wife'.
1881 Census ; (age 51). Living at The Grange, Collingtree, Wooton, Nothants with husband, 2 (unmarried) daughters, 1 son, 1 married daughter (and her son), a companion and 2 servants.
1891 Census (age 61) living as widow at The Grange, Collingtree, Wooton, Nothants with 1 daughter (Eleanor) a Mary Dunkley (servant in previous yrs now L(adies) Friend), grandson Joseph Walker, and 4 servants inc. a nursemaid. There is a Farm Baliff next door in 'Farm House' - presumably running the estate. Occupation; living on own means.
Mary married Pickering Phipps M.P., J.P., son of Edward Phipps and Elizabeth St John Outlaw. (Pickering Phipps M.P., J.P. was born on 14 Mar 1827 in Northampton, Northants and died on 14 Sep 1890.)
