Lt-Comm. Clayton Lee Burwell
- Born: 29 Oct 1910
- Marriage (1): Deloise Ann Emmons on 6 Feb 1943
Notes:
Info from Jeremy Archer research; had issue with Deloise; 1 son.
Also there is a Clayton Lee Burwell ('class of 32' - which fits in) scholarship at Sewanee University, Tennessee, to encourage and reward academic excellence and a demonstrated interest in Chinese and/or Asian studies. It is awarded to an economics, history, Asian studies or foreign language major who has completed his or her sophomore year and has taken at least two courses in Chinese and/or Asian studies. Among those qualified, the award is made to the student holding the highest GPA. Coincidence? If it IS him then he was later a Rhodes scholar, and also a good tennis player, Capt at Sewanee and Oxford, and played at Wimbledon 3 times.
Also a CDR Clayton Lee Burwell was a founder of the US Naval Reserve Association.
Clayton married Deloise Ann Emmons, daughter of Lt-Gen. Delos Carleton Emmons and Unknown, on 6 Feb 1943.
