From Wendy H; The Times 5 Aug 1916; A marriage will take place shortly between Bernard Senior CMG, ISO, treasurer of Ceylon, and Marguerite, youngest dau of the late Capr Sidney Stanley and Mrs Stanley of Longstowe Hall and 2 Scroope Terrace.

From Wendy H; Obit The Times 10 Jul 1934; Mr.Bernard Senior C.M.G., Treasurer of Ceylon from 1908 to 1923, died at Deane, Kintbury, last week, at the age of 69.
Born on June 23, 1865, the son of the late Mr.J.Senior, solicitor, he was educated at Dulwich College. In 1884 was was appointed clerk to the Boundary Commission (Redistribution of Seats Act). In the following year he was attached to the Scottish Education Dept., and again in 1888. After a period as private secretary to Sir F.R.Sandford (later Lord Sandford), Under-Secretary for Scotland, he was appointed first-class clerk to the Colonial Secretary's office, Gold Coast, in 1888, becoming local auditor at Lagos in 1889. From the Gold Coast he went to British Bechuanaland in 1894 and to Cyprus in in 1895. From 1902 to 1907 he was Auditor-General of the Orange River Colony. Other posts he held in South Africa were chairman of the Tender Board and director of the National Bank of the Orange River Colony. He was also a member of the Commission which inquired into the law relating to mining for diamonds and precious stones in the Colony. At the South African Freights conference in 1904 and 1905 he was delegate, and he was a member of the Civil Service Commission of the Colony in 1905.
On promotion he went to Ceylon as Colonial Auditor in 1907, being appointed Treasurer of Ceylon the next year. In addition to being a member of the Executive and Legislative Councils of the island, he was Chief Commissioner of the Loan Board. He retired in 1922. He publications included "A Guide to the Examination of Government Accounts in Cyprus".
His first wife was Florence Mary, youngest dau of the late Dr S.B.Farr, of Andover. She died in 1915. He married secondly, in 1916, Marguerite S.Wentworth, youngest dau of the late Capt S.Stanley of Longstowe Hall, Cambridge.

Bernard married Florence Mary Farr, daughter of Septimus Briggs Farr M.R.C.S., L.S.A. and Unknown, on 31 Mar 1891 in St.Mary's, Andover, Hants. (Florence Mary Farr died on 26 Aug 1915 in 32 Horten Place, Colpetty Ward, Colombo, Ceylon.)


Bernard next married Marguerite Sara Wentworth-Stanley, daughter of Lt.Col. Alan Sidney Wentworth-Stanley D.L., J.P. and Unknown, on 5 Sep 1916 in Little St.Mary's, Cambridge. (Marguerite Sara Wentworth-Stanley died on 22 Jan 1947 in Cambridge.)
