Anthony also says " My father knew Uncle Ernest quite well - he visited him and Aunt Daisy in Grahamstown, probably whilst marketing Aveling & Porter Invicta steam rollers in the late 1920s - Philip has pics of them all 3 together. Perhaps son Theo was disowned? Ernest was at Westminster School and was buried wrapped in the Unon flag. He was one of the founding profs of Rhodes Uni, Grahamstown - where Philip & I, and also CC Bateman were at school at St Andrews College. CCB appeared in very early group photos in the old gymnasum building when I was there in the late 1950s - we never knew he was a cousin."

Ernest Ludwig Herbert b 27 Feb 1873 married 20 Apr 1904 to Daisy Murray Bourne O'Halloran. Died 19 Dec 1928 at St Louis, Senegal. Buried Willesden New Cemetery, Franklin Rd, Willesden. First Prof of Geology at Rhodes Uni, Graham's Town, Cape Colony.

Ernest married Daisy Murray Bowen O'Halloran, daughter of Maj. Gen. Sir Joseph Clanfergael O'Halloran G.C.B. and Unknown.
