also found; Richard WITHERS found in Montgomeryshire Baptisms </index/database/MontgomeryGSprs.shtml> 1 entry in Montgomeryshire during 1739 - but ran out of credits and was only on to use up what I had left !

In The Crisis of Community, Montgomeryshire 1680-1815; By Melvin Humphreys, Humphreys, University of Wales there is “Edward Withers of Berriew, who prosecuted for the loss of flannel, urged that the offender, John Griffiths, be placed in custody, for he doth threaten the ...”

Looked (Apr 2010) for graves in Berriew graveyard, but found non. However I did find reference to someone of Vaynor Park. It appears this is a large estate, certainly never owned by the Withers (his son was a grocer!), but it's possible he was a tenant, factor, manager or similar.

GLANSEVERN ESTATE PAPERS ; 3. Thomas Withers of Berriew, gent.; William Davies of Rhyd Whiman, esq. LEASE AND RELEASE, being an assignment of mortgage for £250, of a messuage and lands called Groestyn in the township of Freedd and parcels of land called Maes Davids in the township of Keel, all in the parish of Berriew aforesaid.
