Google; FRCS. He was the senior ophthalmic surgeon to St.George's Hospital, London. Served on medical staff of Times and Lancet. Corresponded with Charles Darwin on nervous diseases. His portrait (caricature from Vanity Fair) is at the NPG (but not on display). Wrote 'On the Pathology and Treatment of Hysteria' and 'Doctors and Their Work; or Medicine, Quackery and Disease'. . In one article he is described as 'Sir' but I don't think he was knighted.
