Northampton Mercury 22 Jun 1844; On the 17th in Montague Street, James Holbrook, Esq, late of Park Street, London, aged 72, highly and deservedly respected, father of Mrs.Wright of Irthlingborough.
His will: James Holbrook of Irthlingborough in the Co of Northamptonshire Gentleman I xxxx that all my just debts funeral and testemantary expenses are paid soon after my decease I give and bequeath unto my wife Fanny Holbrook one hundred pounds for her immediate use and all my household furniture effects xxxx and provisions I give and bequeath unto George Luff of Great Russell Street Bedford Square piano forte maker the sum of fifty pounds for his trouble in performing the trusts of this my last will and I give and bequeath all my ready money money in securities and other(?) personal estate and effects not otherwise disposed of also my leaseholds and real estate if any at the time of my decease to my daughter Fanny WRIGHT and George Luff their heirs executors and administrators upon trust as follows that they or xxx shall first out of the dividends xxxx (costs??!) and other annual produce of my estate pay for (?) xxxx and keep all the covenants(?) xxxxxxxxx in the leases held by me and in the next place(?) pay the residue to my wife during her life and after the decease of my wife to pay unto Louisa Smith during her life the yearly sum of fifty pounds clear of the legacy duty and free from the xxxxx debts of any husband she may marry and after her decease the above yearly sum of fifty pounds to xxxxx part of the residue of my estate and the residue of such dividends and annual produce of my estate to be paid unto my daughter Fanny WRIGHT during her life free from the xxxxxxxxx and debts of the present or any future husband and at her decease to the whole of the residue of my estate to such person or persons as she may in her last will direct or appoint xxxxx in the event of my daughter Fanny WRIGHT dying before the xxxxxx (not decease?!) my wife Fanny Holbrook I desire the residue of my estate to be paid to such person or persons as she my wife Fanny Holbrook by her last will may direct or appoint due provision being first made for the payment of the annunity of xxxx before xxxxx fifty pounds yearly to Louisa Smith should she survive both my wife and daughter And I appoint my daughter Fanny Wright and George Luff Executor etc. etc. etc.
