Entered RN in HMS Ethalion on 16 March 1803, appointed Lt. on 25 Jun 1810, served on the frigate HMS Amelia, and the 74-gun HMS Ganges. Present at the bombardment of Copenhagen in Sept 1807 and at the blockade of the River Targus in 1808.
