Edward Stafford Coster
- Born: 10 Apr 1843, Castle Cary, Somerset.
- Marriage (1): Agnes Henty in 1877
Notes:
Info from Jeremy Archer; Emigrated to New Zealand in 1859. Owned Blackford Station, Mount Hutt. Had 1 son and 6 daughters. His wife was sister to his brothers wife.
The 'Blackford' book says he attended King's School, Bruton and Christ's Hospital, London (as did his brother). Also says "sailed out to New Zealand on the 'Duncan Dunbar' aged just sixteeen. He joined his brother in New Zealand immediately afterwards and when he first arrived in Lyttleton he worked in an office for some months and then went as a cadet to Fernside Station. In 1865 he bought a sheep farm near Mount Hutt which he called Blackford Station. His brother Lewis, who had moved to New Zealand some time before, had a house nearby at Opawa called Compton and though he took an interest in the farm he was manager of a branch of the Bank of New Zealand in Christchurch".
