Info from Kay Chiraux. Alternative birthdate of 1754 may be baptism date. He was a Shipmaster from Grangemouth Marriage is on familysearch, but doesn't give Ann's parents names. Death date from Barbara Berry (from below), presumably he died in Grangemouth, but not 100% certain.
Stirling and Central Scotland By John Gifford, Frank Arneil Walker, Richard Fawcett contains the text (Pg 276) "It commemorates James Sclanders and Ann Stewart and is dated 1794. ... Beside it, another stone of 1794 and also to James Sclanders and Ann Stewart. ..."
Also inventory etc from Barbara Berry as follows; "Inventory & valuation of James Sclanders moveable estate given up by Mrs Ann Sclanders his Executrix"; At Stirling the twenty seventh day of April eighteen hundred and ten years In presence unto supra compeared(?) Colin Dawson writer in Stirling and produced ? and whereof the timer(?) follows viz Innventory (sic) of the moveable means and estates which belong to the deceased James Sclanders Shipmaster in Grangemouth who died upon the twenty eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ten Faithfully made and given up by Mrs.Ann Stewart alias Sclanders Residing at Grangemouth the defuncts widow and Executrix dative qua relict deceased to him by the Commisary of Stirling upon the ninth day of March last. There were resting to the defunct at his death the sums of money undermentioned by the persons following viz; Sir William Forbes & Company Bankers at Edinburgh being a balance on a deposit account as stated on the 31st December 1809 £1507..11.9. Interest thereof from 31st December 1809 to 28 January 1810 when Mr Sclanders died at 3 percent £3..9.4 The defunct had a claim upon Messrs Lawrence Pinkerton, Merchants in Glasgow for £300 which is the subject of lawsuit before the court of ?????. Valued at £100. Amounts value of household furniture & conform(?) to separate Report and valuation by Thomas Aitken licenced auctioneer in Falkirk made upon oath before a Justice of Peace the 19th day of March 1810. £77..7. Value of the Hull and materials of the sloop Friendship per said valuation of Thomas Aitken £800. Amount of value of one forth part of the Hull and materials of the sloop John of Carron which forth part belonged to the defunct £80. Gives total as £2568..8.1 All which is reported by me this twenty seventh day of April eighteen hundred and ten years (signed) Ann Sclanders Stirling 27 April 1810 The Inventory on this and the preceding page is the Inventory referred to in the deposition of Mrs Sclanders of this date emitted before the Commisary Depute (sic) of Stirling (signed) Ann Sclanders John Burn (?)
