William Pickering Morris
- Born: 1859, Whitchurch, Shropshire
- Marriage (1): Madeline Elizabeth Holbrook on 14 Jan 1884 in Shipton On Stour, Worcs
Notes:
Full second name from finding sons chr, which showed it as 'Pickery'. However then I found him as William PICKERING Morris, son of Henry Morris and Frances Jane Roe GRINDLEY (matches sons name).
Backed up by finding; "Chewstoker is a reference to one of Arthur’s uncles and family who lived at Chewstoke near Bristol. This family obviously called Arthur’s mother “Aunt Alice” and one of them must have had a voice that made that sound like “Anti-lice.” The members of this family were Uncle Will (William Pickering Morris), Aunt Maddie/Maddy (Madeline née Holbrook) and their sons Harry and Sidney." at http://mormedmat.blogspot.com/2010/09/arthurs-letters-with-15-korl-up-till.html
1891 Census; think found but is corrupted.
1901 Census; Living (age 42) in Chewstoke, Somerset with wife and 2 sons, a servant and two visitors. Gives occupation as 'Bank Clerk (maybe - certainly Bank something) (Retired)'. Visitors are Albert P WRIGHT (!?!) (28, married) and Louise E Wright (25 married, presum wife of AP). She born in Elberfield, Germany, he in Bristol. Might not be Wright but looks like it is, and ancestry has it as Wright. He gives his occupation as ... manager perhaps? Looked for him in '91 and '81, but can't find, so possibly is not Wright.
1902; Reference to William Pickering MORRIS of Oldland Common, Bitton, Gloucestershire. Gentleman, buying some land in Oldland Common here; http://www.familychest.co.uk/FamilyChestDocs/documents/0904037.htm
William married Madeline Elizabeth Holbrook, daughter of Thomas Holbrook and Sarah Ann Wright, on 14 Jan 1884 in Shipton On Stour, Worcs. (Madeline Elizabeth Holbrook was born in 1858 in Woking, Surrey.)
