Marriage info (inc maiden name) from Wendy. She also found; She was born 29 Sep and bap 26 Dec 1814 St Luke's Middx. Daughter of William Mawman Brown(Hat Manufacturer) and Elizabeth Brown. William Mawman Brown and Elizabeth (nee Crowder) were married 31 Aug 1812 Shoreditch. William Mawman Brown died Q4 1848 Clerkenwell. She had one brother William Mawman Brown (Junior) born 17 June 1813, baptised 14 July St Luke's. I next come across him described as Merchant landing in New York 4 Sep 1837. He next appears as a bankrupt in 1840 and then is found guilty at the Old Bailey on 12 June 1843 of feloniously forging and uttering bills of exchange. Sentenced to 12 years transportation. Read the account of his first appearance in court - serious business - not just bouncing cheques but heavy duty fraud. Lastly hear mention of him when Duncombe an MP accused in the Commons, the medical officer of the Hulks at Woolwich of neglect. His principal witness was Mawsom Brown who was found guilty of falsehood and malicious misrepresentation!
1841 Census;presumably she is the Eliz Foster living (next door to husbands sister and her family) aged 20 in South East Side of Dorking, Surrey with husband and child.
1851 Census (age 36) living in St Michael Stockwell Parish, Lambeth with husband and children and 1 servant.
1871 Census (age 56) living in St.Mark's Parish, Lambeth with husband, children, nephew (Atherton Powis) and 2 servants.
1875 death info from Wendy.
1881 Census; can't find her or her husband.
1891 Census. there is an Elizabeth Foster (75), widow, living as lodger "on own means" and born in Middlesex living in Stamford Hill, Hackney. Could be her.
1901 Cenus; can't find.
Elizabeth married John Foster, son of William?# Foster and Ann#, on 23 Sep 1834. (John Foster was born in 1808 in Hange(?) Bloomsbury, Middlesex.)
