1851 Census; living, aged 10, at East Street, Horncastle with parents, 3 siblings and cousin (Jane Gant, 14, daughter of George). Occupation;Scholar.
1861 Census; living, unmarried, aged 20, at house of his brother John at Farm House, Hameringham, Lincs. Occupation; Agricultural Labourer.
So that is definately him (as with brother). HOWEVER to explain potential future difficulties there are two other possiblities;
William Gant, Low Toynton, Servant, Greetham.
William Gant, Horncastle, Visitor, Teford Lincs.
1871 Census;Originally I though he was living at Ing(?) Lane, Belchford, Lincs, but that person born in High Toynton, so now not so sure.
1881 Census; originally not sure but age and precise PoB match exactly; living, aged 40 at 199 Portland Rd, Kensington, London with wife and children. Occupation; Horse Keeper. Gives PoB as Hameringham, Lincs.
William married Mary P. (Mary P. was born in 1849 in Kent.)
William next married Mary P. (Mary P. was born in 1849 in Kent.)
