1871 Census; living, aged 8, at Coach & Horses Inn, Hemingby, Lincs with parents and siblings. Occupation; scholar.
NB on '81 census there is are FIVE 'Cook' Gants/Gaunts born in Lincs (albeit of vastly different ages). Inc. one b1803 in High Tointon (although he's listed as a Gaunt and says Gaunt on form). Anyway;
1881 Census; living, aged 18, as servant at Ivy House, Wainfleet St Mary, Lincs - the home of James Martin (Land Agent and Farmer). Occupation; Groom.
