Thomas Hardacre
- Born: 4 Aug 1805, Long Preston, Yorkshire
- Christened: 9 Aug 1805, Privately in Long Preston, Yorkshire
Notes:
Found bapt in N Yorks CRO: Thomas Hardacre, son of John (Weaver) and Jane. This gave bapt AND birth dates. Was baptised privately.
There are 4 possibles in 1841 Census (he would be 36, but ages supposed to be rounded); b~1806, living Giggleswick (actually Settle) - 35yo Mercer, married to Sarah, 30. b~1806, living Giggleswick (actually Settle)- 35yo Weaver Cotton, married to Ann, 35 b~1811, living Linton - 50yo Farmer, married to Elizabeth, 30 b~1801, living Long Preston - 40yo Wheelwright, married to Mary, 30
Looking at 1851 (he would be 45, and ages not rounded) there are 3, but only 2 born in Long Preston; Age 44; living in Long Preston, Farm Labourer, married to Ellen, 1 child. Age 42;living in Settle (2 houses from an as yet unconnected family of Moorbys), Hand Loom Weaver of Cotton, married to Ann, 43, 5 children (John, William, Christopher, Thomas, Jane)
Given a) the ages and b) the Long Preston connection I would assume it is the chap living in Long Preston, who seems to have a second wife. However this is by no means certain, so I have not entered the children or wives. Also the Settle chap is Weaver of Cotton, like Thomas' father. Only way to be sure would be to find weddings of these 2 chaps and see which, if any, was a son of John Hardacre.
