Name is MAcPherson on wedding record.
Bateman lecture on the History of New Church College (1859); It was about this time that our friend the Rev, C. G. Macpherson arrived from Trinidad, and was introduced at a College meeting held on the 25th November, 1857. Whilst officiating as curate to the Rev. Philip le Maistre, Mr. Macpherson had become acquainted with and accepted the doctrines of the New Church, and had abandoned his living, and it was agreed at this meeting to assist Mr. Macpherson in preparing for the ministry of the New Church, should he resolve upon that course. On the 20th January 1858, another meeting was held, for the purpose of considering the propriety of again attempting to establish a boys' school in connexion with the College, under Mr. Macpherson's superintendence. This was resolved upon at this meeting, and rooms, light, firing, furniture, school apparatus, and advertisements for six months agreed to be provided by the College. The school was thus re-commenced on the 21st January, and continued with such trifling support until the month of May, when there were only three pupils, that Mr. Macpherson determined, to our very great regret, to relinquish it at the end of the quarter terminating at Midsummer."
