Hannah Jordan

  • Born: 18 Nov 1762
  • Christened: 1 Jan 1763, Burton On Trent

bullet  Notes:

Birth date from Bateman biog.
Chr date and place from familysearch.
Says 'Anna' in Bateman biog, but chr record on family search (father Wm, mother Ann) says 'Hannah'.

Possibly she is Henry's aunt who married widower Mr.Moss and lived at Beech Farm, Coldwell, Derbys, but this 'aunt' could also be on the other side of his family, so not conclusive. However as William Butt Jordan stayed with this same aunt I suspect this IS her. Moss had children from his first marriage.

Henry Bateman's summer holidays were frequently spent at Beech Farm it being "two miles and a half on foot and included the walk over the Black Stones and then crossing the Trent in a ferry, thence up Love Lane, up Stape hill to about a miler beyond the Greatham Road whence we turned off by some meadows to Beech Farm".
Looking at the map I would say it should possibly be 'Breach Farm' and certainly 'Caldwell'.

But in CAULDWELL there is a grave for 'Anna Moss, 20-Aug-1843, 80, 2nd wife of Thomas, Beech Farm'. This ties in. It also lists his first wife (Ann died 1798, aged 37) and Thomas himself (died 27 Jan 1829, 69).

Either way, apart from Anna/Hannah/whatever these are NOT blood relatives (as no issue mentioned from second marriage) so I don't suppose it's that important.
