"Philip George Bateman was born in London on October 26, 1896 to an Islington-born physician Dr Alfred George Bateman (1852-1919) and his German wife Antonia (nee Schwarz) ....... Philip's mother ran a society nursing home from elegant Georgian premises in Queen Anne Street. Her patients included Alfred Lord Milner, Beit, Curzon and a host of worthies including 'Randlords' who had made their money in South Africa."

1881 Census (age 13) living at The Rocklands, College Road, Dulwich, Camberwell, London with parents and siblings. Here says born in Lewisham, Kent.

1891 Census (age 22) living as trainee nurse at Nurses Home of Great Northern Central Hospital, Upper Hollaway, Islington.

1901 Census (age 31) Living at Lucy(?) Anne Street, All Soul's, St.Marylebone, London with husband. No children. Visitor Kate Carey (?, 29). Anne G-P research had wife as Mona Schwartz . But here wife is Antonia. .... LATER; found marriage on ancestry.co.uk - Alfred George Bateman married Antonia Schwarz Q4 1895.

1911 Census from Wendy; (Age 41); Living at 22 Randolph Gardens, Maida Vale, London with 4 children.

Antonia appears in the phone book 'solo' for the last time in 1940;
Bateman, Mrs.A., 7 Queen Anne Street, W1, Langham exchange (2 numbers given).

Possibly given last phone book entry and location of death she moved to Sussex to escape the Blitz.?

Engagement annoucement of son May 30 1921 - Mrs Bateman's addresses were Queen Anne Street and also Feltham Court, Middlesex.

1926 (dau 1st marriage) she was of 11 Queen's Elm Square, S.W.

1929 (son in law Rosmini's death) she was of 26 Cadogan Gardens. Still in same place in 1934 (dau remarriage).
