Presumably she is the fairly prolific actress who used the name 'Margery Phipps Walker' ; actress on stage and TV in the 1920's and 1930's. The Lady Shows Her Medals (TV Movie) 1937. Rare Books List; "Auden W.H., The Dance of Death. First edition; Annotated on many pages by Margery Phipps-Walker, a member of the Group Theatre who acted in the first production of the play, and with her ownership signature to upper board. It is reasonable to assume that this copy would have been used by her in rehearsals with Auden and that the textual amendments thus had his agreement." Played Mrs. Kristine Linde in Ibsen's 'A Dolls House' at Festival Theatre, Cambridge Nov 1930. Played 'Servant to Mrs Prue' in Love For Love in March 1934 at Sadler's Wells (cast inc James Mason and Charles Laughton). Played 'Women With Loaves' in 'Richard of Bordeaux' at the New Theatre (cast inc John Gielgud ; who also produced and Dame Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies)
Mention in 'An Appreciation of Dame Flora Robson' thus "Flora and Margery Phipps-Walker had fun playing Francoise and Jeanne, the two maidservants" .......... "Flora and Margery Phipps Walker had to continue the scene, looking out of the window, seeing the two lovers kill themselves in the river. All she saw was the two of us killing ourselves giggling!" ... and .... "Robert Eddison, who was in the cast, particularly remembered one of the ways Tony made clear the life of theatre in which the drama unfolded. Margery Phipps-Walker was left sitting on stage during the interval eating from her lunch-box and throwing banana skins at the audience" ! .... and .....
