Owen# (or Joseph) Manning
Notes:
If google " "owen manning" orlingbury" you get pages back, but haven't really investigated yet.
Literary Anecdotes of the Eighteenth Century; by John Nichols, Samuel Bentley; contains; "The Rev. Owen Manning was the son of Mr. Owen Manning of Orlingbury in Northamptonshire". The article then continues about Rev Owen (see under him) but a footnote says ; ""A younger brother of Mr Owen Manning possessed some landed property at Mears Ashby in that county; and his sister married the Rev George Maule, rector of Castle Ashby, in the same county, and died in Sept 1800, age 80, leaving two sons, John, rector of Greenford, Middlesex, and another a surgeon at Edmonton". Ergo Mr. Owen Manning is Eleanor's father, Rev Owen was B.A. in 1740 so is approx same age as Eleanor (and later found he born in 1721), so hangs together. BUT: There is an Owen Manning (IGI) born 1754 in Orlingbury with parents of Joseph Manning and shows HIM as marrying Catherine Peacock ! And in 1818 a Joseph Manning left money to the poor of Orlingbury . AND National Archibes; Copy of Will & of probate of Joseph Manning the elder of Orlingbury gent. Probate 24 November 1766. (P.C.C.) AND At Orlingbury, Northamptonshire, aged 81, Mr. Joseph Manning, brother of the late Rev. Owen Manning, It's possible therefore that Rev Owen and Eleanor are actually cousins rather than siblings..........
One of the Owen Mannings is recorded at Orlingbury as " a tenant of the townehouse in 1673"
