1871 Census; Living as head, aged 54, at Iffley Road, Cowley, Oxon with wife and boarder (Amelia Carter, 59, widow). Actually it looks like a small boarding house - but with 2 x heads. Occupation; Major(?) Retired Full Pay.

He fought in the China Campaign between 1842 and 1842. He fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855, with the Baltic Fleet."

Edward married Charlotte Maria Duke on 27 Jul 1848 in All Saints, Southampton. (Charlotte Maria Duke was born in 1827 in Salisbury, Wiltshire.)
