1871 Census; Living as head, aged 54, at Iffley Road, Cowley, Oxon with wife and boarder (Amelia Carter, 59, widow). Actually it looks like a small boarding house - but with 2 x heads. Occupation; Major(?) Retired Full Pay.

Edward married Charlotte Maria Duke on 27 Jul 1848 in All Saints, Southampton. (Charlotte Maria Duke was born in 1827 in Salisbury, Wiltshire.)
