From Scruton PRs book "Son of Charles above, he was bapt at Scruton 1708. School: Darlington (Mr Marshall). Admitted pensioner at Trinity College Cambridge, aged 18. Matriculated 1726; scholar 1727; B.A. 1729-30 ; Floow 1732; M.A. 1733. Ordained deacon (Lincoln) Sept 1734, and priest June 1737. Presented to Scruton by his Uncle Roger Gale 10 Oct 1738. Concurrently Rector of West Rounton 1742-1756. He married Eleanor dau of Mr George Crowle of Fryston. Buried at Scruton 6 Jul 1756."
