Possibly he is : Genteel freehold residence to be sold by auction ... on 10th Sept 1840 ... situate in Pebble Lane, Wellingborough, now in the occupation of Mr Henry Rands shoe manufacturer comprising 2 parlours, kitchen, brewhouse and warehouse, with chamber over both; a good cellar, 2 chambers, 2 attics, small yard and garden. Apply Mr.Rands at the premises, or Mr.G.Rands, Newland, Northampton.
1851 Census; Living as head (age 39) at High Street, Northwood, Hampshire with wife and 3 daus. Occupation; Boot and Shoe Maker.
1861 Census; Living as head (age 49) at 25 High Street, Northwood, Hampshire with 4 daus, son, niece (Eliza Emery 14, born Leighton Buzzard, Beds). Think he is married rather than widower, but unclear. Occupation; Boot and Shoe Maker employing 4 men and 1 boy.
1871 Census; Living as head (age 59) at 10 Alma Sq., Wellingborough, Northants with son and dau. Occupation; Shoemaker. Again it still looks like he is married, although it's unclear.
