JOHN DINSDALE,.......... His son James met with rather a singular incident about 1860, when he was 12 years of age. A bald eagle of immense size came down upon his father's farm and attacked a flock of geese. After a severe contest with a plucky gander, the eagle was finally dispatched by James with a club. James graduated at Rush Medical College, Chicago; is now practicing medicine at Soldiers' Grove, Crawford Co.

James Dinsdale, M.D of Soldiers Grove was born in Yorkshire England, November 18, 1848. He came to this country and Wisconsin the following year. Mr. Dinsdale attended the state University of
Wisconsin during the winters of 1867, 1868 and 1869. In the fall of 1871, he entered Lawrence University at Appleton, Wisconson. He graduated from the institution in 1875. He studied medicine the
following three years, ending by a graduation at Rush Medical College in the spring of 1878, He then settled at Soldier's Grove where he at once entered practice of his profession and where he still
resides.

James Dinsdale was born November 18, 1848, in England, and emigrated to the United States in 1849, with his parents John and Tirzah Dinsdale. They first settled in Grant County, Wisconsin, and in
1876 James taught school, and read medicine under Dr. J.J Leavitt of Fennimore, Wisconsin. In 1877 he attended the Rush medical College at Chicago, Illinois, graduated in February 1878, and then
came to Soldier's Grove and commenced the practice of medicine. He has since remained there enjoying a good practice, being the only physician in the village. The doctor now owns 240 acres of
land on sections 9, 324, and 35, also a house and lot in the village of Soldiers Grove. In November 1882 he was united in marriage to Sarah Hoverson who was born in Crawford county, Wisconsin,

1880 US Federal Census. (completed on 16th June) 31 years old, a doctor, living in Soldiers Grove,
Crawford, Wisconsin with his sister Isabelle 24, keeping home and a boarder Ross L Smith 27, a druggist ( Isabelle and Ross eventually marry).

1900 US Federal Census. 51 years old, a physician and surgeon, living in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin with his wife Sarah A 38, children Alvina N 14 and T May 11 and mother in law Anna Hooverson 75.

1905 Wisconsin State Census (completed on 1st June). 56 years old and living in Soldiers Grove with his wife Sarah 43 and daughter May.

1910 US Federal Census. 61 years old, a physician and surgeon, living in Soldiers Grove, Crawford,Wisconsin with his wife Sarah 48 and daughters Alvina 24 and Mae 21.

1920 US Federal Census. 71 years old, a farmer, living in Peace Valley, Slope, North Dakota with his wife Sarah 58.


James married Sarah Ann Hooverson on 16 Nov 1882 in Soldiers Grove, Crawford, Wisconsin, U.S.A. (Sarah Ann Hooverson was born ~1848.)
