1841 Census (age 9) living in Church Lane, Pocklington with mother, brothers William and Thomas and 2 apprentices.

1851 census (age 18) living Waterloo Hotel in Church Lane Pocklington, unmarried with widowed mother and older brother Thomas. Also an apprentice bricklayer and a servant. Occupation; Joiner and Cabinet Maker.

1861 census; there are George Grant born in Pocklington living in Middlesex. His age looks like 39, but COULD be 29. He is a 'Carpenter Journeyman' and is married to Annie (age 25), born in Barmby Moor, Yorks.

1871 Census; The same couple as '61 are now living in UNION ST , POCKLINGTON but now age is probably 38. Occupation is builder. Now have five children (all born in Pocklington) and is also a domestic servant living with them.

1881 Census; (aged 48) living with wife and family at Waterloo Inn, Waterloo Street, Pocklington. Occupation; Innkeeper and Builder Master employing 4 boys. Also a servant living with them. NB; There is a John S Grant (aged 61) on same page who is Pocklington born and a cabinet maker.

There is a death registered in Pocklington Q3 1882 of a George Grant (born circa 1832), presume this is him.

1891 Census; cant find.


George married Annie. (Annie was born in 1836 in Barnby Moor, Yorks.)
