William Gant
- Born: 1843, Low Toynton, Horncastle, Linc.
Notes:
1851 Census (incorrectly indexed as Gaunt although does actually say that on the form as well) living (age 8) at Albert Row, Wragby, Horncastle with parents and some of his siblings. Occupation; Scholar.
1861 Census; living (aged 17) at 5 Foundry Street, Horncastle, Lincs with widowed father and 2 siblings. Occupation; Labourer.
1871 Census; there are 2 possibles born in Lincs, but based on the birth dates the other I actually thought was his cousin so I entered this; Living, aged 28, at Skinningrove (which is abt 4 miles SE of Redcar), Yorkshire with wife (Margaret), daughter (Emma) and 2 boarders. Occupation; Miner. PoB just given as Lincolnshire. BUT this now seems wrong. Getting very confused !
1881 Census there are 3 Possibles! William, married to Elizabeth, b1841, High Tointon, Head, living Horncastle William, married to Mary P, living in Kensington, but this says born in Hameringham, so must be his cousin. William, married to Mary Ann, b1840, born Low Tamtom, living in Yorks with daughter Emma (ie same one as shown in '51). But I don't think he can be ANY of these, based on his ages in '51 and '61 which would place his YoB at about 43/44 NOT 40/41.?
