Of Connemara, Ireland & afterwards a Loyalist planter in Virginia at Summerhill, on James River in Goochland and Albermarle Counties. Removed to Chesterfield, St Elizabeth's Parish, Jamaica.

From Jeremy Archer research; was Assistant Judge of the Jamaica Supreme Court, dismissed by Governor Sir John Dalling, but subsequently reinstated by Privy Council order of 18th June 1781. Member of the Assembly for the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica in 1781. Possibly educ Glasgow Uni.
Lewis Burwell Martin married his first cousin once removed, thus Agnes Martin who was Anna Cunningham's mother must be same Agnes Martin who was James Martin's (Col. John's brother) daughter.
Mentioned in his fathers will (along with Samuel) as "two youngest sons". One of the executors of his fathers will (along with brothers George & Samuel).
Lewis married Ann# Cunningham, daughter of Francis# Cunningham and Agnes# Martin, in Oct 1762 in Dublin. (Ann# Cunningham was born in 1735 and died after 1766 in Jamaica.)
