1861 Census (indexed as Hodell on ancestry) ; Unmarried, Living, age 49, at Grindall Farm, Longtown with widowed mother and 2 siblings and 4 farm servants (Livestock Servant, Carter, 2 x Carters Boys). Occupation; Farmer of 325 acres (brother John's occupation is 'Partner in Farm').
