Notes:
IGI ; A Wm Hodell married Anne Phillipps 14 Nov 1806 at Clodock, presumably this is them, but odd 5 year gap till first child - unless others don't know about (but why they not in will?), which certainly not impossible. FHOnline; Groom WILLIAM HODELL Bride ANNE PHILLIPS Day 14 Month 11 Year 1806 Place of marriage CLODOCK (HEF) Licence? - Notes =LLANBEDR
Dale Barnhart believes she is actually Ann PRICHARD before her marriage.
1841 Census; Living, aged 50, at Gridal (Farm), Clodock, Herefordshire with husband and 8 (presumably) children. There is also an Ann Brewer, 30 who has a child Ann (3) - this is presum the dau Ann Beavan mentioned in his will. The 'children' are in descending age order, apart from Eliza who is at the top of the list - which is slightly odd, but did have dau called Eliza AND Elizabeth (as mentioned in the will). So basically all the children apart from Mary (who is already married to Richard) are 'at home'. Says she is NOT born in this county.
1851 Census; Widow, living as head, aged 65 at Gridal (Farm), Longtown, Herefordshre with 4 children and 2 farm labourers (George Thomas 78, Clodock and Lewis Lewis 15) and 2 general servants (Elizabeth Jones 19, Clodock and George Price, 12). Occupation; Farmer of 300 acres. PoB is 'Llambed' - same as dau Mary. Next door (2 sep houses are); 1.Philip Hoddell, 25, Farmer of 134 acres, Clodock (& 3 farm & 1 house servants) 2.Mary Hoddell, Widow, 69, Landowner, Garrway(?), Herefordshire (living alone). Presumably therefore Philip and Ann are farming Mary's land ? On next page are; Wm Prosser, 40, Head, Farmer of 140 acres, Clodock Elizabeth Prosser, Wife, 29, Much Dewchurch William Prosser, Son, 4 mo(?), Clodock Ann Brewer, Sister in Law, married, 40, visitor, Monmouth, but can't read parish. (and servants). Presumably she is same Ann Brewer as staying at Gridal Farm in '41 and know that a Elizabeth Hoddell married a Wm Prosser (widower) at Clodock 1 Jun 1850. Ergo Elizabeth is the dau from the '41 census.
1861 Census (indexed as Hodell on ancestry) ; Widow, living as head, age 74, at Grindall Farm, Longtown with 3 children and 4 farm servants (Livestock Servant, Carter, 2 x Carters Boys). Occupation; House Keeper (but is head). Sons James and John are partners in the farm business.
Found death record, b~1791 = match. Found burial record at Herefordshire MI Index, age = 79 = match.
