1841 Census; (Indexed as Prius) (age 2), living in South East Side of Dorking, Surrey with parents and siblings.

Wendy found bapt for following siblings ALL on date shown; Charles Wm, Emma, Wm, Eleanor, Maria Alice. Address given as Loughborough Road.

1947 Letter Cyril Griffiths -> Ann G-P "Mother used to say that she was very lovely but she was a desparate flirt and never married".

1851 Census; (Indexed on ancestry as Lowis) (age 11) living in South Street, Dorking, Surrey with parents, siblings, grandmother and a servant. Occupation; Scholar.

1861 Census (age 20) living East St (?), Dorking with parents, 4 siblings, grandmother and 2 servants.

1871 Census (age 28?) living in Knowl Hill, Wargrave, Berks with parents and some siblings.

1881 Census (age 35??!) living in 2 Marlborough Road, Putney, London with mother and sister Kate. Also 3 servants (shown as daughters, but obviously not). Occupation; null.

There is an Emma Powis marrying in Q3 1882, Islington to either William Blackwell or Frederick William Prichard. Other wife being Emily. But can't find our Emma married to either of these people in '91.

Death record found gives YoB ~1840 = match. .... later; exact death date from will 'proven'.

1891 Census; can only find one Emma Powis, she born in Windsor and is a charwomen.

Have her will (from Cyril Griffiths papers) of Thorndene, Marlborough Road, Putney. Dated 10th Oct 1881. Proven 20th April 1888.
1.Trustees should until 29th Sept 1898 accumulate the income in the manner directed by the Settlement made on the marriage of my sister Katharine Isabel Griffiths.
2.Is K.I.G. has no issue then her estate to be divided between Mabel Frances Isabella Powis and Dora Katherine Grace Harriet Powis children of my brother Charles William Powis.
3.Executors are brother Henry Herbert Powis and Algernon Brenchley of 124 Denmark Hill, Surrey. ; who each get £100.
4.Witnesses Ann Maria Harene, Folkestone and Phillis Turner, Thorndene, Housemaid.

Have Jan 1907 statemement saying under Emma's will Mrs Griffiths (which?... and might be Mr!) is entitled to;
1/6th of 1/3rd of £7pa being one moiety of rent of freehold house called Thirza(?) Cottage, Princess Road, Plumstead
and to 1/3rd of 1/6th of 1/3rd of the same.
1/6th of 1/3rd of a moiety of rents arising out of leasehold properties in Woolwich producing £256
and to 1/3rd of 1/6th of 1/3rd of the same.
1/6th of £54-7-2 dividends on £1976 Consols (as per Mr.GH Powis's Settlement Fund) standing in the name of Mr Edward Charles Syms of the Adjutant Generals Office Pall Mall (survivior in a joint account with Stephen Lewis Griffiths late of the same place deceased).
1/6th of certain freehold and copyhold properties in Painswick producing £41 pa
£777-5-3 of India 3.5% stock
£164-3-7 of same in name of Algernon Dutton Brenchley (Isabel Powis married a Brenchley in 1873).
Under Mrs Powis' Marriage Settlement:
Entitled to life to 1/6th of the dividends on £1976 Consols mentioned earlier.
As to the Painswick Property;
Under the Indenture of Jan 1844 entitled absolutely to 1/6th of the freehold and copyhold mentioned earlier.
Under the Will of Mrs Powis;
1/4 of 1/3 of 1/3 of the moiety in Theriza Cottage (freehold)
1/4 of 1/3 of 1/3 of the Woolwich Leaseholds mentioned ... and to 1/4 of the same
1/4 of certain stocks and cash forming Mrs Powis' Residuary Estate.
Under the intestacy of Mrs Flanene (?!?!);
Entitled to 1/5 of 1/6 of the £1976 consol mentioned and 1/5 of 1/6 of 1/3 of the moiety in leaseholds mentioned earlier.

Have 1923 Statement of her estate. Inside it says particulars of the estate as on 17th Feb 1888;
1.£1063 India 3.5% stock
2.Under settlement of 18th April 1842 deceased was entitled to;
a.2/27ths of a moiety = 4.54th of the rents arising from 'Coxs Lease' of premises in Woolwich and Plumstead producing £234pa, the lease expires Xmas 1908
b.4/54th of the Public House known as the 'Fox & Hounds' for a term exiring 1918 at £108 pa
c.4/54ths of a freehold cottage & premises called Thirza Cottage, Princes Road, Plumstead @ £17pa
3.Under settlement dated 14th Oct 1830 Emma was entitled to (subject to her mothers life interest) 1/6th share of £1976 Consols.
4.Under settlement dated Jan 1844 and a deed of partition of Aug 1863 was entitled to;
a.1/6th share of a copyhold estate (inc a small freehold portion) in Painswick
b.£367 India 3.5% stock
5.Under <space!> entitled to a life interest in £927 India 3.5% stock
6.Under the will of Mr Wm Horlick Powis, deceased, was entitled to a life interest in £419 3% Consol. Stock
Statement then details income and expenditure from 1888 to 1911, inc May 1888 £100 legacy to Dr Brenchley
Remaining estate @ May 1923;
£777 India 3.5% stock
£485 ditto
1/6th share of a copyhold estate in Painswick consisting of a house called 'Sunnyside' and a piece of land of 13 acres.
It says 'to' Dr.Brenchley' but is signed by Katharine I.Griffiths and Oswald P Griffiths

July 1923 Dr.A.D.Brenchley resigned as Trustee and appointed C.D.Webb and Oswald Powis Griffiths.

Have 3 x 1931 Statements (1 for each of the beneficiares) from the Trustees of the Will of the late Emma Powis to "the beneficiaries under the trusts of the settlement made on the marriage of Mr Stephen Lewis Griffiths and Mrs.Katherine Isabel Griffiths".
Mostly it's in India stock. 1/3rd share transferred;
1.Cyril Stephen Griffiths £2-6-1 income, £298-1-6 capital.
2.Oswald Powis Griffiths £2-6-0 income, £298-1-7 capital
3.Mrs Agnes Louisa Wright and Miss Kate St John Wright £2-6-0 income, £298-1-7 capital.
It also says; by her will dated 10th October 1881 Emma gave everything upon trust to her mother Ann Powis for life (will doesn't mention her mother??!?!) with remainder in the events which have happened upon the same trusts as those contained in the settlement on the marriage of C.S.Griffiths and K.I.Powis that is upon trust for K.I.G. for life with remainder for such of of the issue and in such shares as Mr & Mrs Griffiths should jointly appoint or as the survivor should appoint.
An equal share has been appointed;
a.C.S.G.
b.O.P.G.
c.V.M.G.
V.M.G. intermarried with and became the wife of Christopher St John Wright and died intestate on 29th Jan 1924 ; C.St.J.W. became entitled to 1/3rd share, which settled 21 Nov 1924 in favour of his dau Ann St.J.W ; the trustees of said settlement are Mrs Agnes Louisa Wright widow and Miss Kate St.J.Wright.
The following stock represents the investment of the trust fund £1,635 India 3.5% Stock.
The present trustees are Cecil Dunstan Webb and Oswald Powis Griffiths.
