Notes:
Can't find chr on familyhistoryonline
Originally I had his father down as James and mother as Ann, after finding on family search the birth of a Henry Powis in 1808 in Gravesend, Kent. This persons parents were James Powis, Jnr and Mrs.James Powis. There was also a Charles birth in 1804 in St Giles London with James Powis and Ann Powis. HOWEVER that same person is listed (on some of the records) on familysearch as Charles JAMES Powis.
1947 Letter Cyril Griffiths - Ann G-P "On the financial side, as I have told you they originally had a lot of property in Woolwich, but that was not all. There was also property in Gloucestershire because mother has told me that she remembers how her father used to set off once a year from Berkshire to the West Country to collect his rents. Latterly, however, the estate became so complicated by division & sub-division that it came down to dividing a relatively small sum into 64 parts before it could be distributed, so various lands were sold by the trustees and the proceeds were invested. One small piece of land so sold was in Painswick. The xxxx? of the money you have just inherited must, I think, be part of the remnant of the Powis estate, held by Aunt Belle, to your mother, subject to Mabel's life interest".
Got details from Katharine's christening on familysearch.
Can't find his marriage on the IGI.
