London Gazette 18th Oct 1872; 98th Foot, Henry Herbert Powis, Gent, to be Sub-Lieutenant, in succession to Lt. G.B.Havelock, transferred to the 101st Foot. Dated 19th October 1872.
London Gazette 22nd Jan 1875; 98th Foot, Sub-Lt Henry Herbert Powis to be Lieutenant. Dated 19th October 1872 (?!?!? - this is same date as above, but def. says 1872!).
From Wendy; The Standard 3 August 1877; Marriages: POWIS - MONK Aug 1 at St Stephen's Streatham, Henry Herbert, Lieutenant 98th Price of Wales Regiment, 2nd surviving son of Charles Horlick Powis of Roehampton Park to Eleanor Powis (Nellie) elder daughter of R P Monk & Mrs Monk of Penshurst Lodge Balham. Also; Rugby School Register (transcription) ; Monks Richard Fowls (stet) son of Richard POWIS Monk of Penshurst Lodge, Balham Hill - left 1876 - gazetted to 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers October 1880 Captain 1st Battalion March 1890 Reserve of Officers. This would perhaps imply that Eleanor was a cousin of some sort ? Which is why I have entered info here on her father.
London Gazette 23rd Jan 1880; 98th Foot, Lieutenant Henry Herbert Powis to be Captain, vice E.Haughton, retired on a pension. Dated 7th January 1880.

Henry married Eleanor Monk, daughter of Richard Powis Monk and Mary Anne Eagle, on 1 Aug 1877 in St Stephen's, Streatham, London. (Eleanor Monk was born in 1858 in Mitcham, Surrey.)
