Found chr on IGI; Sarah Ann Holbrook, 25 Sep 1853, St John The Baptist, Shoreditch, London. Father Thomas Holbrook, Mother Sarah Ann.

1861 Census (age 9) 'Scholar' living with his grandparents, brother and 2 domestic servants in St Peters Parish, Brighton.

1871 Census; whole family seem to have vanished! There is a Thomas (47)indexed as Hanlback which, looking at it could (just) be Holbrook living in Aston, Birmingham. His (presumably second) wife is Elizabeth (47) and daughter Sarah A. is 19, which would match this Sarah Holbrook. Interestingly father is Retail Brewer - son Thomas is later Brewery Manager, so not that far fetched! This also shows her as being born in Warwickshire, although unfortunately it also shows father same.

1881 Census (age 28) Governess to the Couper family (head of house is John 'No occupation', 4 children born in Middlesex, Herts and Australia) at 22 Dorchester Place, Marylebone, London.

1891 Census; Can't find under her own name. Can't find marriage on familysearch.org.

1901 Census; I couldn't find her. Wendy found her in end ; she is a visitor at 190 GloucesterTerrace (address on wedding register). Down as Susan F Holbrook age 49 Born Leamington. Home of Jack S Cowper (29) , Alexandrina J Cowper (31) Sister, Gertrude I Cowper (28) sister, Lionel I Cowper (19) 2 Lt King's Own rifle.

Wendy;The Mrs W G Walford of Hampstead at Rands funeral was Mrs Walter Gilson Walford. She is 'our' Sarah Holbrook daughter of Thomas Holbrook. Details from marriage licence 26 April 1901 St James Paddington:: Walter Gilson Walford aged 62 widower of 120 Finchley Road Hampstead- physician son of Humphrey Thomas Walford (Dec) Clerk in Holy Orders and Sarah Fannie Holbrook Spinster aged 48 of 190 Gloucester Terrace, d of Thomas Holbrook (dec).

Death address is same address husband living at in 1901 census, and his address on wedding details.

Sarah married Walter Gibson Walford M.D. on 26 Apr 1901 in St James', Paddington, London. (Walter Gibson Walford M.D. was born ~1839 and died on 4 Apr 1924.)
