1921 Census living (aged 28y3m) at Field Head, Dallington Av, Northampton with father, sister and a domestic help. Occupation; Solicitor, Own Account at St Giles Sq, Northampton. Occupying 8 rooms.
Old Oundelians; "George St J Rands was a Lieutenant in the Northamptonshire Regiment. He was in Crosby House whilst at Oundle between 1907 and 1911. He died on the 17th February 1978."

From Wendy; Northampton Gazette 23 June 1917. Picture of George and Oliver with caption 'Pte. O.F. Rands with his brother, Lieut. George St John Rands, who is with the Northamptons in Palestine'. Article reads; "Regret will be felt among a large circle of friends at the news that Pte. Oliver Francis Rands, of 'Field Head', Dallington Avenue, Northampton, has been missing since May 3rd. He is 22 years of age, and was educated at Oundle School and the Royal School of Mines. He was a member of the O.T.C. at Oundle, joined the Public Schools Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers in October 1914, and has served in France during the winters of 1915 and 1916. His father would be glad of any news which comrades of the missing soldier may be able to give him".

Have 1973 letter from solicitors 'Thomas J Eckford & Rands' (consultant G St John Rands) to Kate St John Wright, regarding will of Miss Ada St John Wright. Presumably this is him - would be ~80 yrs old.

Oundle School Archives; School Magazine 1908/09; George mentioned as playing for Crosby house rugby team on several occassions (he was a forward) George in his house junior rowing 4 (weight 10st 8Ilbs) George shooting in the Earl Spencer Challenge Cup (came last). George in his house shooting team George in school shooting team against various schools. They beat Felsted at shooting, but no Rands on the team that day.
School Magazine 1910/11; George again in house rugby team George in OTC Boat club report "Of the individuals, apart from members of last year's School crews, Catterall, Image, Carslake, Davies, Garrard, Rands deserve special mention". This is George (steady at 10st 3Ilbs!). Lance Corporal Rands in the school team at Bisley. He did shoot against Felsted this year, and they again won. Rands was in his house shooting team.
