Got full name, including creative use of 2 x Powis!, by finding birth record on ancestry. Previously was just Atherton C.P. Powis.

1947 Letter Cyril Griffiths -> Ann G-P "Eventually went to Australia and I don't think anymore was heard of him again" ... "somehow xxxxx to hear Auntie Issie, his mother, wondering what had become of him, but she never heard".

1871 Census (age 8) staying with Uncle John Foster and his family at St.Mark's Parish, Lambeth. Occupation; Scholar.

1881 Census - incorrectly indexed as PowEs (age 18) living with mother, siblings, 2 of fathers cousins and a servant at 1 Ravensworth Ter, Fulham, Chelsea, London. Occupation; Clerk in City.

1891 Census; can't find. Tried several times

1901 Census; can't find. Tried several times

Perhaps went abroad, or died between 1881 and 1891 and not on free index?

Note that 'Atherton Powis' is a common family name of the Powis line descended from Thomas Powis, 1st Lord Lilford (of Northants). I think this is just a coincidence however - the first Lord married a Miss Atherton, and their children all born about 1820's - so cannot include William. Possibly this also means that the following is NOT ours;

Times of February 4 1938 - Court circular:"At Home Mrs Neville Chamberlain. Held an at home at 11 Downing Street yesterday. The rooms were decorated with spring flowers sent up from Chequers. The hostess wore a dress of deep midnight blue lace, with a hanging cape, bordered wtih a large pink silk flower. Invitations had been sent to MPs and their wives, some of whom were accompainied by representatives of the constituencies. Among the guests were:.....(long list of names here) Mrs Atherton POWIS"
