Notes:
IGI (NB; Both in Pedigree resource files, NOT British Isles IGI); 1.Elizabeth Pritchard born in Ewyas Harold in 1802, Chr 13 May 1802 on familysearch (parents John Pritchard and Sarah Davis), but this person shown as died in Oct 1854, and also marrying someone else. 2.Elizabeth Prithcard, chr 28 Mar 1802 in Ewais Harold. Parents James and Alice Ralph Pritchard. ..... actually I can't find the second one of these now.
Got maiden name and marriage date from posting on rootschat. Possibly this means her daughter Elizabeth married a cousin? However head of that line is Henry Pritchard who was born in 1800 in Clodock. Also originally thought this meant George jnr was illeg, until found out that George snr was widower at time of marriage to Eliz. FHOnline;Groom GEORGE POWELL Bride ELIZABETH PRITCHARD Day 11 Month 09 Year 1834 Place of marriage EWYAS HAROLD (HEF) Licence? L Notes +(W)DEWLAS
Got birth cert. for Ambrose and she is definately nee Pritchard, which ties in with the wedding, so correct.
1841 Census (age circa 30) living at Platch Farm, Dulas with husband, 1 step child (George), 3 children, and 3 agricultural labourers (John WILLIAMS 18, Henry Herbert 55 and Sarah LEWIS 16). Actually Williams and Lewis may NOT be agricultural labourers, hard to read.
1851 Census (age 49) - incorrectly down as 'Powel' (ancestry and the actual census form) is living as head at Platch Farm, Dulas with 4 children and farm servant (Thomas Watkins 22, Clodock). Is widowed. Occupation; 'Farmer of 43 acres, employing 1 man'.
1861 Census (age 59) is living as head at Platch Farm, Dulas with 3 children. Is widowed. Occupation; 'Farmer of 59 acres'.
1871 Census (age 66?! - does not compute) living as head at Platch Farm, Dulas with 2 children, a granddaughter (Elizabeth's illegit dau) and a farm servant (John Thomas 69). Occupation; Farmer of 70 acres. Granddaughter is Jane Powell (age 9, born in Dulas) - father shown as blank on her birth cert., mother as Elizabeth Powell. Interestingly in the 1873 Owners of Land for the county of Herefordshire Elizabeth does not appear to be listed, although George jnr and James are in Llanveynoe and St Margaret's respectively.
In Dulas 1876; http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/HEF/Dulas/Littlebury1876.html .... there is Mrs.Elizabeth Powell, Farmer - Platch Farm.
1881 Census (age 79) living with daughter (Eliz) and her family and granddaughter (Jane - see above) at Lower House, Longtown, Herefordshire. Occupation; Annuitant.
