1851 Census (age 8?) - incorrectly down as 'Powel' (ancestry and the actual census form) is living at Platch Farm, Dulas with widowed mother, 3 siblings and a farm servant. Occupation; Scholar.
1861 Census (age 17?) unmarried is living at Platch Farm, Dulas with widowed mother and 2 siblings. No occupation given.
1871 Census (age 28), unmarried, living with widowed mother and sister Elizabeth and niece Jane and farm servant at Platch Farm, Dulas. Occupation is 'do' from mother - farmer of 70 acres.
1881 Census (age 35?! prbly 38) is unmarried farm servant at Hawthornes(?) Farm, Longtown, Herefordshire.
1891 Census (age 47) living with sister Elizabeth at Lower House, Longtown, Herefordshire. Occupation; 'Wifes brother' !
Found his grave in Ewyas Harold; Augustine Powell of Lower House, Clodock died March (25th) 1895 aged 52 years. This is adjacent to James Powell's grave ; further proof that is his grandfather.
