Notes:
No obvious entry for her birth. Nearest is; Q3 1841, Bromyard, Hereford & Worcester, but think this was just the free index.
Full index birth search 1838 - 1840 inc. the only match is; 1839 Q2; Sophia Powell, Abergavenny, Vol 26, Pg.12. BUT found her chr on IGI; 25 Sep 1837 Dulas, parents George Powell & Elizabeth. This makes age in '41 wrong, but age in '51 correct.
1841 Census (age 2) living with parents and siblings at Platch Farm, Dulas.
1851 Census (age 13) - incorrectly down as 'Powel' (ancestry and the actual census form) is living at Platch Farm, Dulas with widowed mother, 3 siblings and a farm servant. Occupation; Scholar.
A Sophia Powell died Q4 1855 in Abergavenny. No YoB given.
1861 Welsh Census could be (but is age 20) umarried living as general servant/dairy maid in house of Henry Morgan (Farmer of 100 acres). Here shows PoB as Dulas.
A Sophia Powell married a Henry Sayce in Hereford district in 1874. On the 1881 census this Sophia Sayve is shown as born in Dulas, but is 38, which would give YoB of 1843? In '91 census she is 46 and still showing Dulas. But age is too far out really.
A Sophia Powell married a Herbert Cowles or a John Hannen in Monmouth Q2 1858. Other women was Emma Powell. 1861 English census; can't find a Sophia Cowles or Hannen (or soundex) with husband Herbert or John. Or without husband and adding birth date. 1861 Welsh Census; ditto.
May 1871; Witness at brother Ambrose's wedding.
In 1871 Welsh census there is a Sophia Bowler, 32, married, born in Craswall (not too far from Clodock etc.). I thought this was them as son is called Thomas POWELL Bowler, but mother in law is with them and she is called Mary Powell. So this definately not her.
Sophia married Henry Sayce. (Henry Sayce was born in 1840 and died on 9 Apr 1922 in Allensmore.)
