1861 Census (age 19) unmarried is living at Platch Farm, Dulas with widowed mother and 2 siblings. No occupation given.
1865 Wedding cert from Susannah Gent; is listed as farmer, son of George, farmer. Bachelor of full age. Witnesses are; Sophia Powell, John Gwillim, Margaret Gwillim and (another) John Gwillim.
1871 Census (age 29) is living at White House, Llanarth, Monmouthshire, is unmarried. Is 'Head' but house appears to be divided into 2. He shares his 1/2 with Farm Servant William Gwilliam (19, incidentally born in Ewyas Harold - next to Dulas, perhaps some relative of his Gwillim grandmother?). Other 1/2 occupied by Hestin WILLIAMS (44, Farmer on something) and his family. Ambrose gives occupation as 'Farmer of 62 acres employing 1 man'.
1881 Cenus (age 39) living as head at Platch Farm, Dulas with wife and children. Occupation; Farmer of 90 acres.
1891 Welsh Census (age 50) living at Dulme(?) Inn, Llangynider, Breconshire as widower with 5 children. Occupation; Innkeeper.
1901 Welsh Census (age 60) living at Coach & Horses Inn, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire with 2nd wife, 2 children and a boarder. Occupation; Publican.

Possibly he is the Ambrose Powell who died in Abergavenny Q2 1901, although that person shown as born ~1843, which doesn't tie in with birth cert. However Susannah Gent has June 01 as the death date, so gone with that.
Ambrose married Sarah Gwillim, daughter of John Gwillim and Unknown, 8th May 1871 in Ewyas Harold Parish Church, Herefordshire. (Sarah Gwillim was born in 1848 in Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire.)
Ambrose next married Mary A. Gibson Q4 1892 in Paddington, London. (Mary A. Gibson was born in 1853 in London.)
