James Powell
- Born: 1830, Dulas, Herefordshire
- Christened: 21 Nov 1830, Dulas, Herefordshire
- Marriage (1): Sarah Watkins Q3 1854 in Hereford District
Notes:
Not certain that he is George's brother, but seems highly likely as found his chr on IGI: Father; George Powell, Mother; Ann, in Dulas. ie exactly the same as George and was born 11.5 months after parents married and 2 years before George. Also WATKINS connection. Later; A James Powell is named as one of the two eldest legitimate sons in George's will, so fairly certain this is him.

Household made up of; Elizabeth Watkins, Head, Widow, 52, Free(or maybe lease)holder of 150 acres, Llandilo, Monmouthshire. Seen ref to Llandilo wrt Powell's before, but can't remember where .... it's where 'George Powell' of the Dog Inn, EH was born in '51 census. John Watkins, Son, Unm, 32, Farmers Son, Clodock William Watkins, Son, Unm, 30, Farmers Son, Clodock Sarah Watkins, Dau, Unm, 23, Farmers Dau, Clodock George Watkins, Son, Unm, 12(or maybe 17), Farmers Son, Clodock David Watkins, Son, Unm, 14, Farmers Son, Clodock James POWELL, Relation, Unmarried, 20, no occupation, Dulas Eliza Gough, Serv, 16 William Bower, Serv, 13 Elizabeth POWELL, Relation, 1, Michaelchurch Escley(preum), Hereford.

Must have got married around 1854 - James Powell and Sarah Watkins, Q3 1854. Vol 6a, Pg 783. Need to get to make sure his father IS George. Looked under Clodock (which covers Craswall) in Hereford CRO but it's not in the parish. Presumably it is St Margarets, but that only goes up to 1837 in the CRO - have to send for the certificate !!

Found grave with Augustine and James senior in Ewyas Harold, however although YoB is roughly correct and is married to a Sarah it says he died in 1889, which doesn't match with the above.
James married Sarah Watkins, daughter of William Watkins and Elizabeth ?, Q3 1854 in Hereford District. (Sarah Watkins was born in 1829 in Crasswall, Herefordshire.)
