Found him on family search after clues; 'Hany' (sic) Royle Powis. Bapt 7 May 1903 at Pagham, Sussex. Father; Arthur Herbert Powis. Mother; Alice Mary.

From Wendy; Henry ROYle Powis born in 1903 in West Hampnett, Sussex. He died 2001 age 98. He went to Australia age 17 and visited UK aged 29 travelling first class with wife, infant and 'ayah'.

1921 Census; Living as visitor ( Aged 18y,2m) at Crowstone House School Crowstone Road South Westcliff On Sea. Occupation; British Mercantile Marine, New Zealand SS Co.

From Michael Powis; My father Harry lived at Crowstone House until his mother Alice Mary sadly died of pneumonia in 1917 when he was still only 14. Helen Maude O'Meara became his unofficial guardian and, as an orphan, he was sent off to school at Christ's Hospital. At Crowstone House was Frieda Lily Tomkins who, some 16 years later married my father. She was editor of the School Magazine, the Crowstonian. I have the copy of Easter term 1922 "February 16th, Mrs Powis' Birthday. Several girls went to Sutton (the church where she is buried) with flowers.
At the age of 16 my father joined the New Zealand Shipping Company and travelled theworld, including Australia. In 1923 he joined British United Asbestos and in 1925 they sent him to India. On leave in 1928 he married my mother. They lived in India until the war. My brother was born there in 1932 and would have come home with them + ayah on leave, probably a couple of times.
