Wendy found ; Winifred Bateman baptised 12 Jan 1873 Christ Church, Barnet
1881 Census (age 8) living at Hadley Green, Monken Hadley, Middlesex with parents, 10 siblings and 5 servants. Occupation; Scholar.
1891 Census (age 19) living in St Matthew's Parish, Reigate, Surrey. House called Hill Leigh(?), H<something> Bridge Road with parents, 7 siblings and 3 servants. Unmarried.
Can't find an obvious marriage.
1901 Census; Can't find.
Did marry however as, Google books, there is a reference "to Winifred, daughter of the late Horatio Bateman, Esq., Hill Croft...." annoyingly I can't open the whole thing, but presumably is a birth announcement (prbly death - see below). Same document also says "Winifred Bateman was born at Hadley, Barnet, in 1872. She was a member of a large family who attended the Church of England ...."
There's also quite a bit about 'a' Winifred Bateman in The Rise of the Laity in Evangelical Protestantism , but not sure if ours or not. Judging by the church emphasis on the other one I would suspect she is.
This ties in with; From Wendy; In Times of September 18 1901 there is a death announcement as follows: on 28 July at Hankow China after 10 days illness, Winifred beloved wife of Dr P Lonsdale McAll, London Missionary Association, Hankow. In the Chinese Recorder Index there is a Winifred Bateman McAll. Her husband's full name is Percy Lonsdale McAll - he was a doctor/missionary born in Leeds in c1870. I could find a 1901 overseas marriage for Percy Lonsdale McAll in China for 1901 but could find no corresponding entry for Winifred. It doesn't seem they were married very long. Percy did remarry a Lilian - Wendy came across them several times on passenger ships on their way to varius missions. The 1901 entry must be his marriage to Winifred.
A Winifred Elinor E Bateman married 1902 in Hampstead.
Winifred married Dr. Percy Lonsdale McCall in 1901. (Dr. Percy Lonsdale McCall was born ~1870 in Leeds and died on 8 Mar 1937 in 10 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh.)
