From IGI.

Found his bapt in EH PR's in Hereford CRO "William the son of James Powell and Mary his wife was bapt 23 August 1799"

From Peter Tily; "James Powell's son William (1799- 14/9/1873) can be found working as a miller in Abergavenny in the 1841-71 censuses. He married Sarah Underwood (1802 - 6/5/1881) on 16/5/1822 in Abergavenny. They had 7 children, including George, baptised 10/6/1823. This George is the one who moved back to Ewyas Harold to live with his Grandfather James."

1851 Cenus; Living as head (age 51) at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire with wife, 4 children and a visitor (John Prosser, 21). Occupation; Miller. PoB; Ewyas Harold.

1861 Census; Living as head (age 61) at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire with wife and 2 children. Occupation. Miller. PoB. Ewyas Harold.

Also; from http://www.watkinsfhs.net/newsletters/pdf/Journal_vol_2_issue_4.pdf by P.E.Watkins Mather of Ely; "My mother's maternal grandfather ,James Powell, was born in 1831 at Clodock, a village 4 miles to the west of Ewyas Harold, on the Escley Brook which feeds the River Monnow. His father, William Powell, was a Miller and James was apprenticed as a Shoemaker. According to my mother he later became a Tenant Farmer but had to give this up because of ill-health and he then acquired a Grocery business which was probably at Pontrilas rather than what is now known as the P.O.Stores in Ewyas Harold. This business was later taken over by my grandfather because in the 1891 Census Sarah Powell, by this time a widow, is noted as 'living on own means' and so presumably my grandfather was running the business on her behalf with a consideration for himself. In 1859 James married Sarah Alden (1827-1906) at St Peter's, Hereford. She was a native of Wormsley, 7 miles north-west of Hereford". This person also had a WATKINS connection (hence appearing in the newsletter).
This James shows on the IGI as chr 20 Nov 1832 Clodock, son of Wm Powell and Sarah.

William married Sarah Underwood. (Sarah Underwood was born ~1802 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.)
