bullet  Notes:

Familysearch;
A Richard Williams was born 4 Jul 1813 in Clodock and Longtown. Only mother given, Elizabeth Williams. On other hand lots of Richard Williams born in Cusop, which is where he got married.

Best match in Clodock PR's in Hereford CRO's is;
30th Sept 1815, William, son of Wm and Blanch Williams of Carneachead, Freeholder. Sounds probable given that he is farmer of 130 acres in 1851 and I had extrapolated YoB as 1814.

Found marriage record in Cusop PR's in Hereford CRO: Richard Williams otp and Mary Hoddell otp were married by banns on 27th of Feb 1837. Proper signatures. Witnesses were Wm Gilbert(?) and Mary Ann Williams (same name as his dau).

Oct 1840 (Mary's birth cert) is Farmer of Stormy Pavlle(?), Newton, Herefordshire.

1841 English Cenus (age 20), living at Stormy Grotte(?), Newton, Herefordshire with wife, 3 children and 2 x Ag Lab's. Occupation; Farmer. Adjacent properies include Laurel Tree Cottage, Windy House and Holbury House.
There is a Richard Williams, aged 50, farmer with wife Hannah on the previous page - parents?

1851 Census (age 30? hard to read) living at Great Blackhill, Craswall, Herefordshire. Living with wife, 3 children and farm servant. Occupation; Farmer of 130 acres, employing 2 labourers. PoB v hard to read but according to ancestry index it is Newton.
Great Blackhill described thus; "2 storeys. Built of rubble on L plan. Main building is prob of early C17 but E end of E wing may be a little earlier" at http://www.smr.herefordshire.gov.uk/db.php?smr_no=6114

1861 Census; Age 48; Living as Head at 'Cwm Dulais' with wife, son (James) and domestic servant. The Powell's (inc. his daughter Mary Ann) also living at same address. There appears to be a line between the two groups (and 2 'Heads'). Perhaps cottage attached to farm or similar? NB: On this census Richard gives his POB as Clodock. In 1861 census Great Blackhill, Craswal is occupied by William Jones, 33, farmer of 300 acres. Don't understand.!! Perhaps one or both of them tenants?

1871 Census; age 58; back living at Great Blackhill, Craswall, Herefordshire with wife, son (Richard), daughter, 3 grandchildren and 2 servants. Occupation; Farmer. Have searched for Richard Williams independently of Powells for '61 - and only brings the Cwm Dulais entry up - extra confirmation.

Littlebury's Directory and Gazetteer of Herefordshire, 1876-7;
Williams Rich., farmer, Great Black hill but also;
Williams Rchrd., frmr., Turboil, Blackhill

1881 Census; age 72 (? does not compute) living with wife at Lower Cwm, Clodock, Llaneynoe, Herefordshire as retired farmer. PoB given as St.Margaret ?!? However wife details match prior years. Also have tried looking for William and Mary with THESE details on the 1871 (English) census - and no match.

Found grave of both of them in Clodock churchyard. Originally had YoB as 1813 (from census) but have changed to give age at death of 70 - which is what is on gravestone.

Richard# married Mary# Hoddell, daughter of William# Hoddell and Ann# Phillips?, on 27 Jul 1837 in Cusop, Hay On Wey, Herefordshire. (Mary# Hoddell was born in 1814 in Llambed (Lampeter), Breconshire, died on 19 Jun 1886 in Clodock and Longtown, Herefordshire and was buried in 1886 in Clodock Churchyard.)
