Richard Williams
- Born: 22 Apr 1839, Newton, Herefordshire
- Marriage (1): Martha Parry on 15 Dec 1860 in Longtown, Herefordshire
Notes:
1841 English Cenus (age 2), living at Stormy Grotte(?), Newton, Herefordshire with parents, 2 siblings and 2 x Ag Lab's.
1851 Census (age 11?) living at Great Blackhill, Craswall, Herefordshire. Living with parents, 2 siblings and farm servant. PoB v hard to read but according to ancestry index it is Newton, Herefordshire. Occupation; Scholar.
1861 Census ; suspect he is the Richard Williams (age 22) living at Longtown, Herefordshire. Living in mother-in-laws house. Gives occupation as 'Farmers Son'. Gives PoB as Longtown (about 1 mile from Clodock and 4 miles from Newton).
1871 Census; age 30; back living at Great Blackhill, Craswall, Herefordshire with parents, wife and his children. Occupation; Agricultural Servant.
1881 England and Welsh; No obvious match.
Following might be wrong; (ie not related!);
1891 Census; There is a Richard Williams (50) living in Clapham, London with wife MARTHA and sons JOHN and Alfred (ALBERT?). Occupation; Watchman - Port. All born in Herefordshire. But Alfred/Albert and Martha's ages don't match with prior years. John and Richards do. No matches on Welsh.
1901 English; Incorrectly indexed as William. Same family as '91 - but now a) all shown as born in Clodock and b) Martha's age matches... but now John's doesnt!. Alfred is still Alfred, maybe Albert died, going to enter thus. So; living in Lambeth, Brixton at 11 Popes Road (age 61) with wife, 2 children, 1 grandchild (Edith, 13, born in Lambeth) and 4 lodgers. PoB; Clodock. Occupation; General Carman(?)
Richard married Martha Parry, daughter of John Parry and Mary, on 15 Dec 1860 in Longtown, Herefordshire. (Martha Parry was born in 1840 in Clodock or Longtown, Herefordshire.)
