1851 Census living in Upper Settle (age 22) in house of parents. Occupation; Farm Labourer.

1856; Witness at brother John's wedding.
1861 census (age 33) living at Twiston Mill, Lancs with wife and children and 3 visitors. Occupation; Cotton Feeder.
1866 Bradford Observer; Accident from Blasting; on Thurs an accident occured at the lime kiln, Giggleswick Scars, to Miles Knowles and Wm Moorby, who were engaged in blasting. Knowles was much burned about the upper part of the body, but is progessing favourably. Moorby was not so much hurt.
1871 census (age has line through but was 43 or 48) living at Victoria Square with wife and 6 children, at least one more child - Thomas H Moorby still to come (circa 1874). There were also 2 x boarders (18 and 19) who both worked at Cotton Thread Mill - Mary A Firman and Ellen Cavall. Occupation; Labourer.
1881 census (age either 57 or 51, could be 52) living at Victoria Square, Settle with wife and children. Occupation; Quarry-man.
1889 Marriage Record (found in N Yorks CRO) for Elizabeth Ann, Wm was listed as "Quarryman".
1891 Census (age 62) living at Victoria Square, Settle with wife and 2 children and a niece (Eleanor J Moorby, age 5, born in Settle). Occupation; General Labourer.
1901 Census (age 72) living in Victoria Square, Settle with wife, 1 son, and 2 grandaughters. Occupation; General Labourer. One of the granddaughters appears to be the same one described as a niece in '91 viz Eleanor Jane age 15, born in Settle. The other is Emma, aged 8, born in Settle. NB; Son William Moorby jnr and his wife are living next door.
A William Moorby died in Settle Q1 1903, est YoB = 1829 = match.
