There is a Wm Dax chr Alberbury, Shrops 27 Nov 1808, but nothing for Welshpool. On other hand Alberbury is only about 7 miles from Welshpool. On off chance it is him then father is William and mother Mary.

1839; On Edward Dax's birth cert he is listed as 'Maltster' of Berriew.

1841 Welsh Census; living, aged 30, at The Malthouse, Aberhafesp Berriew, Montgomeryshire with wife and child (Edward). Occupation; Maltster. NB; next door is Mary Withers and an M.A.Dax (age 5/6/8) which I'm assuming is OUR Mary Ann.

1851 English Census; age 43, living at Madeley, Wenlock, Shrops with wife and 3 children (Mary Ann staying elsewhere). Occupation; Grocer and Provision Dealer.

1861 English Census; age 53, living at Ironbridge, Madeley, Wenlock, Shrops with wife and daughter (Margeretta). Occupation is Grocer.

1864; Occupation given as Grocer on Mary Ann's wedding cert.

1865; Margaretta's death annoucement; he is still 'of Ironbridge'.

1871 English Census; age 63, living at 57 Ashurst, St.Clements, Lancs with wife. Occupation; Manager of a grocer. Actually seems to be Toxteth Park, West Derby - which we now know as Liverpool. Son Henry is living with his in-laws 2 doors away!

Died Q1 1873.

In 1881 there is a William R Dax, living with wife and children in Toxteth Park, born in Welshpool, but he is only 48. Could be an eldest son, but then where was he is 1851?
Possibly the Eliza WITHERS that Mary Anne Dax is staying with in '51 census (born in BERRIEW) is yet another child.

Possibly related to this lot, but perhaps unlikely !

Dax, Mrs.Sarah, Severn Road.
The Sarah Dax IS on the '41 Welsh Census, age 60, at Severn Road, 'Independent means', also a William Dax (8) a Sarah Powell (25, Independent Means') and 2 younger Powells and a young Griffith.
And is also on '51 Welsh census, still Severn Road (widow, age 76?!?) 'Proprietor of Cottages' born in Honiton, Devon, also there is Sarah Powell (daughter, 37, widow) also 'Prop of Cottages' and 2 x younger Powell's - Richard (15) and Eliza (13) - all Powell's born in Welshpool. 1861 the Powells' living in High Street.
The William Dax (Age 8) is the same age as the William Dax born in Welshpool who was living in Toxteth Park in 1881.
